Anglers looking to test there skills have plenty of opportunity right here in Marquette County!Marquette County is an angler’s paradise with 60 lakes, 5 rivers and 15 streams. Walleys, Northern Pike, Muskies, Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, Trout, Catfish, Bluegills, Crappies, Perch, White bass & Bullheads all can be caught here right in Marquette County.

The areas 2 biggest lakes, Buffalo & Puckaway are connected to the Fox River with one of the largest  Walleye run's  in the state. Puckaway is also home to the largest Northern in the State!
Both lakes are great fishing all year long with Panfish, Bass, Northern's and Walleye.

But be sure to check out some of the county's smaller lakes as well where overlooked populations of fish can grow to hefty sizes. Tuttle, Kilby, Birch (Locals call it Moon), Emery, Ennis (John Muir Lake), Oxford Millpond, Sharon, & Wood lake are all great places to try your skill and come up with pleasant surprises and trophys by the end of the day.

If you like fishing rivers Marquette County is also the place for you. The Fox River is present with Walleyes, Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass all year long. The Montello River is home to bass and panfish as well as the occasional Brown and Rainbow Trout. The Grand River offers great Catfishing, as well as walleys, pike, bass and bullheads. White River is an excellant Smallmouth spot, and the Mecan River is one of the best Trout steams in the area. Brook, Brown & Rainbow trout are abundant in the county's spring-fed streams with miles of public fishing grounds provide easy access for wading or fishing from the bank.

Public access and boat launching facilities are available on most county lakes and rivers, and there are plenty of private accesses at resorts and campgrounds as well. Boat, motor & canoe rentals can be found at various resorts on the lakes or Johnson's Boats & Motors & Rendevous located in Montello.

Tackle and fresh, live bait can be purchased in most places. Holliday & Rendevous in Montello, Woods & Goods 6 miles south on Hwy 22,  Tuffy's Bait & Tackle & Desi's Diner Bait in Oxford, D & R Lures in Neshkoro plus plenty more to help you catch the next state record!

Everyone in the family will enjoy what Marquette County Lakes have to offer! Like even teaching a first timer how to land a monster bluegill!

Icefishing is a whole other opportunity and fun here in Marquette County. You can be sure to know where they are biting by looking out at the lakes for Shanty towns! Pick any lake drill a hole and you are sure to pull something out of it! Walleyes, Bass, Panfish & Pike all can be pulled through the ice right here. Nothing beats sitting in a nice warm heated shack jigging and seeing fish through your hole or waiting to run for the next flag!
